Step 1. Open the project you want to render.

Step 2. Select the view tab, which is situated above the toolbar.

An overview of the View menu

Step 3. Select the button labelled "Ray Tracing".

Note: if the raytracing is greyed out, ensure the "Visual Style" is set to "Realistic"

Step 4. The ray tracing menu will appear in the bottom right hand corner.

Step 5. Select the low or draft setting on the Lighting and Material Accuracy setting.

Step 6. While raytracing is set to low/draft, alter the settings in the view menu to your preference.

Step 7. Once you are happy with the look of the render, switch the ray tracing to High and leave Autocase to render your case. At any point you can pause the render if necessary. You can also disable raytracing from this menu.

Note: Do not attempt to move or rotate the view while Raytracing as it will restart the render.

Step 8. Once the render is complete, click save and a file save window will come up, select the image file type you would like your render to be saved as. The file formats available are:

  • BMP

  • GIF

  • JPEG

  • PNG

  • TIFF
