How to add a Latch to your Library.

Step 1. On the home screen, navigate to "Library" and click "Add Custom Hardware".

Step 2. Import 3D Model.

Step 3. Click on the Planes tool and select the left and right outer faces of the latch to create a center plane.

Step 4. Click on the "Offset from Plane" tool and create a plane between the two sections of latches. In this example the 3d part has a 1mm gap between the top and bottom latch, so we enter an offset of 0.5mm which allows the part to snap to the case centrally to the hyrbid aluminium.
If the part you are importing does not have a gap, please enter the value of "0" into the offset.

Step 5. Add a point by selecting the “Point Tool”, then select the two planes you just created and the back face that will be snapped to the panel.

Step 6. Add Placement by selecting “Add Placement”, click on the point you added in Step 5, then click on the top edge the latch and then the left hand edge of the latch. You may need to rotate the axis for the XYZ to appear correct.

Step 7 - Creating the Cut Out. Select the "Cut Underneath" tool and click on the back face that will be touching the panel of the case.

Step 8. Select the rectangle tool and draw a shape around the latch. Then select the "Collinear Constraint Tool" to snap the lines to the cut out area of the latch.

Step 9 - Create the Cut Out for Holes. Select the "Cut Holes" tools and click on the back face that will be toughing the panel of the case. Select the Circle tool and start adding the sketches around the holes. Easiest way is to hover over the area until the center appear, click once and then enter a number, in the case 5mm.

Step 10. Click “Appearance”, highlight the model, select the material finish “Steel Polished”.

Step 11. Click “Material” icon, select Steel.

Step 12. Click “Add to Library”. Select Library Name and Type. If the Library Name is not there, click “Create Library”.

Step 13. Complete all the fields for the properties of the new hardware and click Save.
