Step 1. On the home screen, navigate to "Library" and click "Add Custom Hardware".
Step 2. Import 3D Model.
Step 3. Click on the planes tool and select the left and right outer faces of the hinge to create a centre plane.
Step 4. Click on the Planes tool and select the front and back outer faces of the handle to create an intersecting centre plane.
Step 5. Add a point by selecting the “Point Tool”, then select the two planes you just created, and then select the face that will be touching the face of the case, this is the face that will be snapped to the case.
Step 6. Add Placement by selecting “Add Placement”, click on the point you added in Step 5, then click on the top edge of the Hinge and then the left hand edge of the Hinge. You may need to rotate the axis for the XYZ to appear correct.
Step 7. Creating the Cut Out. Select the "Cut Underneath" tool and click on the back face that will be touching the panel of the case.
Step 8. Select the rectangle tool and draw a shape around the Hinge. Then select the "Collinear Constraint Tool" to snap the lines to the cut out area of the hinge.
Step 9. Create the Cut Out for Holes. Select the "Cut Holes" tools and click on the back face that will be touching the panel of the case. Select the Circle tool and start adding the sketches around the holes. Easiest way is to hover over the area until the centre appears, click once and then enter a number, in this case 5mm.
Step 10. Click “Appearance”, highlight the model, select the material finish “Steel Polished”.
Step 11. Click the “Material” icon, select Steel.
Step 12. Click “Add to Library”. Select Library Name and Type. If the Library Name is not there, click “Create Library”.
Step 13. Complete all the fields for the properties of the new hardware and click Save.
